Q. Who was Pop Warner?
Glenn Scobey "Pop" Warner (1871-1954) was a pioneer of American football who was a player, coach, and founder of the youth football program that bears his name.  Warner is credited with bringing many innovations to college football,  including the screen pass, numbering of players' jerseys, and use of shoulder and thigh pads. Q. How long has Pop Warner football existed?
Pop Warner football has been around since 1929.  BPW was established in 1964, and some of the coaches and board members participated in BPW when they were children.

Q. Is Pop Warner football popular?
Over 240,000 youths participated in Pop Warner-sanctioned football programs nationwide (statistics from 2001).

Q. About how many people are involved in Bethlehem Pop Warner?
During this season the Bethlehem Pop Warner Football League will include approximately 236 children between the ages of 5 and 14 playing football, roughly 116 cheerleaders and some 80 parents volunteering considerable time coaching, acting as statisticians, repairing equipment, selling at the snack bar, maintaining the football fields and managing the entire operation.  In addition to all the work required to run the program, the kids and their parents work hard as volunteers raising money throughout the year.

Q. Is anybody involved in Bethlehem Pop Warner paid for their effort?
No.  BPW is a completely volunteer organization.

Q. What fundraisers are there throughout the season?
BPW only has one mandatory fundraiser, which is our Annual Awards Banquet Raffle (see details in Fees section).  There is an opportunity to purchase BPW Logo apparel items during the season, which helps raise money for the organization and keep our fees down.  There are optional 50/50 raffles at most home games, as well as a snack stand at practice and game sites.
